Kind Whisper Shield

Protect what you share.

Find personal information before sharing text with AI tools or other services.

The details people paste without noticing.

A support email, a chat log, a school message, or a draft you want an AI tool to improve often carries someone's phone number, address, or ID number along with it. Shield looks for these before the text leaves your hands:

  • Contact details

Email addresses and phone numbers, including local formats in the 12 supported languages and any number written with a country code.

  • Names and addresses

Names when the text gives a clue, such as “my name is,” a greeting, a sign-off, or a title like Mr. or 先生. Street addresses and postal codes in local formats.

  • Identification numbers

National ID formats such as US Social Security numbers, Vietnamese CCCD and CMND numbers, Spanish DNI, Brazilian CPF, Italian codice fiscale, Chinese resident IDs, and Taiwan and Hong Kong IDs. Checksums are verified where the format has one.

  • Financial details

Payment card numbers (checked with the Luhn formula and known card prefixes), IBANs (checked with their control digits), and bank account numbers when they're labeled.

  • Dates of birth

Dates that follow words like “date of birth,” “ngày sinh,” or “生年月日.”

How it works

On your device, with rules you can see.

Shield runs in your browser or in the Kind Whisper app. It uses pattern rules and validity checks written for each supported language, and it checks every language's rules on every check, so it doesn't assume your text is in the same language as this page. It doesn't use an AI model, doesn't send your text anywhere, and doesn't save it. When two findings overlap, Shield hides the whole span so no part of a number is left showing.

Who it's for

  • Anyone pasting a message, email, or document into an AI chatbot or translation tool.
  • Support and HR teams sharing a case with a colleague or vendor.
  • Teachers and counselors forwarding a concern without student or family details.
  • Teens and parents sharing a screenshot or chat for advice.

Limits

A second pair of eyes, not a guarantee.

  • It can miss personal information, especially names without a clue, nicknames, and addresses written informally.
  • It can flag things that aren't personal, such as a product code shaped like a phone number.
  • A match only means the format fits. It never means an ID or card number is real or belongs to anyone.
  • It doesn't read images, files, or links. Check those yourself.

What Shield detects in each language.

Email addresses, payment cards, IBANs, and phone numbers with a country code are detected in any language.

Questions

Does my text leave my device?

No. Shield checks text in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent to Kind Whisper or anyone else, unless you choose to open the protected text in Think Before You Send, which sends it to Kind Whisper's own rewrite service.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it's free, with no account and no daily limit.

What happens when I press Clear?

Your text, the findings, and the protected version are removed from the page. Shield doesn't keep a copy.

Can I use it at work?

Yes, as a quick check. It doesn't replace your organization's rules for confidential or regulated information.
